| Finding a Solution to the Destruction of Unwanted Pets According to the Humane Society of the United States, 6-8 million cats and dogs are cared for in animal
shelters every year. About 3-4 MILLION are put down every year. There are things we all can do to stop this tragedy.
- First, lets make sure all our own pets are spayed and neutered. Here is a great article from the HSUS on why we should do this: Why You Should Spay or Neuter Your Pet
- As Albert Schweitzer said, “Think occasionally of the suffering of which you spare yourself the sight.” This is a moving film that urges us to understand the crisis of pet overpopulation: In Hope
-
Here is a great letter written from one friend to another, seeking to explain why she shouldn't breed her dog: (Published by www.animalsheltering.org) Don't Breed Annie
- And finally, if you are looking for a new pet, please consider adoption first. PetFinder.com is a terrific resource for finding animals at shelters across the country.
